Crab Con: the first and only of its kind
Crab Con brings education, networking, and community engagement together, with adoption opportunities that celebrate ethical care.
Crab Con is an international annual hermit crab convention for land hermit crab enthusiasts, hosted by Hermit House and the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society.
The first Crab Con was held in July 2019 in Lockport, NY to celebrate a captive-breeding breakthrough. Hermit House placed over 200 captive-bred Coenobita clypeatus for adoption, and adopters traveled from across the United States to attend presentations and shop with vendors.
In 2020, Crab Con went virtual. The online conference brought in international speakers, vendors, and attendees, expanding the community worldwide.
